Where I Work

Sorry for the slow posts. My job's been keeping me pretty worn out lately. Julie & I didn't even go out last night, other than costume shopping & dinner at Michael's with Cath.

I just finished my shirt for tonight's party. How lazy am I? My costume is a mask, sweat pants, and a shirt customized with a pizza box stencil & dollar store spray paint. But more about that later.

Today's photos are views from SLU's new Research Building on South Grand. Construction isn't finished yet, but I took an IT geek tour. SLU should be proud of this one when it's done - lots of natural light, energy conservation, people comfort, and, of course, spaces to do science.

The top floor: indoor meeting space, outdoor meeting space, and SLU Hospital across the way.

From a little lower down: the covered walkway that will connect the building with the rest of the med campus through a new greenspace. The roof nearest the building already has sod plugs planted.

From the lobby: I think the frame will eventually be hoisted to the roof.

Wandering around Purdue at night

Feast of the Hunter's Moon, West Lafayette, Indiana

Well, yes, these pics were a little slow in coming. It was a crazy week.

In the 1700's, the French set up a fort along the Wabash River to trade furs and to keep the British from setting up a fort and trading furs. The Feast of the Hunter's Moon is an annual event to celebrate life in and around this stockade.

Yeah, I know I should have concentrated on the French guard, but I like kilts.

I think it was an after-dinner nap, not a plague reenactment.

These folks were serious.

Check my flickr set for more.

The Ten Commandments @ The Tivoli

See you next month at Ben Hur: November 4, 12:30pm, in the big theater at The Tivoli, brought to you by MOCRA.

Oh dear, Ramses is ticked. Again.

Intermission. The concession stand loved us.

The parting of the Red Sea. You knew it was coming, didn't you?

Saturday afternoon in the Loop

Star Clipper: my favorite comic shop

The Tivoli: we needed to get our tickets for The Ten Commandments.

I can never remember the name of the hipster kid's store, but the toys make me smile.

Other sights @ the Big Read

Yeah, yeah, I know: "Tonstant Weader fwowed up."
Lighten up. At least he's "Classic Pooh."

Saturday afternoon with StudioSTL @ The Big Read

Saturday morning @ the vet

Flufface, the guard cat. No, I don't know her real name, and I don't want to. I call her Flufface.

Rudolf Yaber, waiting patiently for his annual shot in the rump.

Sunday Afternoon in Shargri-La

Julie & I ate a late lunch at the Shangri-La Diner Sunday, after Julie finally got off work. (Who knew publishing could be so grueling?)

We started with a quick game of Uno,

followed guacamole and organic chips.

Julie had a BLT ("Veggie bacon with healthy mayo, tomatoes, and crunchy organic Romaine lettuce on toasted thick cut whole wheat bread"). I've never seen veggie bacon before. Surreal. I tried Patrice’s Slammin’ Salmon Plate ("Two eggs scrambled with smoky salmon, onion, and tomato, topped with sour cream"). It was great. We'll be going back again & again.
