Nouveau Hobo Cuisine in the Smokies

We're really good cooks, but sometimes you just want to relax.


This is what a stressed hobo chef looks like. She just has no idea if the potatoes in the coals are actually cooking, or in the butter beans in the cans are burning.


Luckily, all was well, and we feasted magnificently.

We had a pretty sweet campsite in Elkmont, I must say.


Our camp mascot was a little tense.


We spent a little time Sunday, after the rain broke, putting together our walking food. Mrs. Butterworth supervised

Moon at Newfound Gap

Well, the day hasn't gone as expected. No MRI, yet. Hopefully this week. Anyway, here's a snap of the full moon and Jupiter from the Tennessee / North Carolina border last week.

And we're back

After over a week away, Julie & I have returned from the wilds of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. All is well. I have to shower and get an MRI on my re-torn rotator cuff, but I will be back this afternoon with a couple photos.

It's not so odd, I suppose, but it wasn't in the alley by the trash, it was out on Wherry, by the five way intersection. Someone had already scavenged the tank lid, which was the only part we wanted to scavenge, too.

Hello. I have to admit I didn't take a single solitary photo during my BBQ Saturday night. I just watched and took pictures with my eyes.

Pride Parade: Spectators

Happy 4th of July. Stay tuned for pics of BBQ goodness. For now, tho, let's just finish up with some shots of the other folks watching last Sunday's parade.

She stood beside me until the rains came.


She sat below me with her girlfriend and scored about every free thing anyone had to offer.


The woman on the left had been trimming her yard when we walked past on the way to the parade. Some of her young neighbors shared their new beads afterwards.

This old Ford made me happy, and I think they had the best car sign of the parade.

I'm always happy when the weather breaks for summer parades. I hate to see dogs overheat - and I'm not even a dog person. These pooches all seems pretty happy.



Of course his free toy matches his collar!


I don't think these Four Muddy Paws pups are coming clean.
