Saturday Night at the Moonlight Ramble

Julie & the girls rode the 20 mile Moonlight Ramble again this year. Not me. I don't do crowds, especially on a bike. I did go downtown with Julie when she picked up her shirt at 9:00. That gave me plenty of time to clear out before the serious crowds lined up at midnight.

Epic Mayhem at The Ten Mile House Friday night

We strayed out of the City again. This time the girls & I landed at the Ten Mile House where Epic Mayhem opened for the Orbs. We only stayed for EM, but they were huge ska-filled fun.

The Ditty Bops at Mad Art Thusday night

Julie, Cath & I wandered down to Mad Art after work Thursday night for the Ditty Bops' early show. We would have loved to stay for the second show, too, but this day job thing... well, you know.

Saturday @ Crown Valley Winery

Crown Valley is full of very modern looking equipment,


and dead animal trophies.


On the patio, if you're tired of looking at overdressed young urban types line dance, you can look through the telescope and see farm animals up close & personal from 300 yards away.

Pawn shop on Grand: I never realized how well violins blend with whatever company they're forced into.


Dinner meeting at the Bread Co.


Walking around downtown: I guess this one hasn't gotten so much traffic. It's pretty well preserved.

In Sappington

Okay, it has officially been too hot for too long when we are willing to drive to the county to go to an indoor farmer's market for our produce. It's true. The Soulard folks seem to get a little cranky with the customers when the heat is up. Or maybe it's just me being cranky because I don't want to wander around the Soulard in the heat - not even for the little tiny donuts from the little automatic donut fryer, and I love that thing.





Other benefits to going to the Sappington Farmer's Market:
- they have so much cheese
- if we wanted local sorghum syrup, this would probably be our best source
- the model train that circles the store above the shelves makes me smile
- it's right next door to Uncle Sam's camping supplies

How I Spent My Summer Vacation, part 2

I will have photos hanging at Arts in Transit, downtown on the Landing, August 10-October 5, 2007. Now I just have to come up with about 20 framed & matted photos before we hang Friday afternoon.

A Cautionary Tale

While the new home office is starting to fall into place, I thought I'd put up a reminder of what I shouldn't let happen this time around. Julie snapped this a couple years ago. I'm really going to try to keep this from happening again.

Or, as I like to think of it, a very dusty bubble sort.

Today's project: turn the office into the spare bedroom, and turn the spare bedroom into the office. It's midnight, and it's mostly done. Now the spare bedroom is a bright, welcoming place to lounge, and the office is in the room we call the Bat Cave.
