Sofa Saga

We did not go to the soapbox derby Saturday. We got distracted by furniture.

My old sofa was about 12 years old. It was a little past its prime. Maybe when I was single I had fallen asleep on it a few too many times. Maybe its seven foot length had been damaged moving from Clayton to Chippewa, then from Chippewa to Bancroft. Really, the only important facts were that it was (1) too big for my living room, and (2) painful to sit on.

Julie might also mention something about seat cushions squelching out from under you while you sat. I never had this problem. Everyone else who sat on it did, but that's really not relevant, is it?

SO, Saturday morning, after running to ArtMart while Julie had a StudioSTL meeting, after cutting a new mat for one of my photos, after dropping framed photos off for Art St. Louis XXII, Julie & I stopped at the St. Vincent dePaul Store. We needed a costume piece or two.

We didn't find what we were looking for.

This was most definitely NOT what we were looking for, but I couldn't look away.

Anyway, we stopped to look at the furniture. We always look at the furniture. It's usually too beat up, too smelly, or too ugly to interest us, but we always look.

First thing we saw was a two loveseat, two ottoman set. It looked new, smelled new and was comfortable. It was ours.

Did you know you can fit a loveseat and an ottoman in the back of a Toyota Matrix? Two trips later we had our haul home. The only painful part was wrestling our old couch out to the alley behind the garage. (The beast put up a fight and popped Julie in the jaw.)

In true St. Louis City style, the seven foot monster and accompanying coffee table was claimed by a new owner within an hour.

We never did put together costumes.

Julie tells me we need bigger pictures on the walls.
