More Food from Our Artists' Retreat

Our Easter Breakfast. Yes, the jar was full of mimosa.

I know we talked about gooey butter cake here recently. For the record, this is what it's supposed to look like.

Friday Night Dinner at the Deluxe

So, imagine if Crybaby's mom decided to cleanup her act, go legit and open a diner in St. Louis. It wouldn't quite be the Deluxe, but it would be its closest competition.

On a side note, if you take a couple of left over Rings of Fire (large yummy onion rings dripping with Buffalo sauce), chop them up, and add them to your scrambled eggs the next morning, I recommend adding a touch of cheese.

Grocery shopping & fidgeting

I play with my camera when I'm fidgety. Unfortunately my PHD (Push Here, Dummy) digital camera is starting to flake out. I guess it's time to start testing out IR capabilities on display models. You see someone flashing a remote into camera lenses at Best Buy, say "hi."

Artists' Retreat at Critter Cottage, Marthasville, MO

Julie & I ran away for the weekend for the first DillMarschik Artists' Retreat. We were not productive at all, but we did come back extremely relaxed and happy to have taken the time to disappear for a couple of days.

We went to a B&B cabin in Marthasville called Critter Cottage. It's a comfortable, cozy sort of place and I'm sure we'll be back.

Cherub - I don't know what it is about B&Bs and cherubs. The place we visited in Hermann had them painted on the ceiling over the bed. This guy just hovered discretely over the very comfy tub.

Decorated Eggs in Someone Else's Kitchen

It wasn't the most beautiful batch we ever produced, but they were highly individual and, ultimately, tasty, so I was pleased.

Stay Tuned

This old house may play a part in an upcoming novel.

Honestly, I just keep taking pictures of it because I like its porcine wind vane.

Stay tuned for photos of the Annual Egg Dying Event (check out previous years here), the DillMarschik Artist Weekend (it's a new holiday), and anything cool I wander across while I'm on the Katy Trail.

Downtown St. Louis

Yeah, I know it may not be the smartest thing I do, but I really like walking around downtown. At least I don't go alone any more. Usually.

Pappy's in Midtown

I think Pappy's has trumped my entire family. Their ribs are as good as mine, their potato salad is as good as my mom's, and their baked beans are almost as good as JD's.

Walking around downtown

Was it a shoot for an ad or a brochure, or was it an honest to goodness couple shot, in the wild urban backdrop of brick? I'm voting for an ad of some kind. But where is the photographer's bag dragger?
